Veterinary Exam

Book your pet's next wellness exam to keep them happy and healthy.

Your pet goes through many subtle changes throughout each year, and it’s essential that our team tracks their developments. By having checkups, your veterinarian can get ahead of health issues that can shorten your pet’s life. Call us at 289-278-6001 for more information and to book your next appointment.

When should my pet have a wellness exam?

Your pet should have wellness exams from an early age. Puppies and kittens need three exams during the first few weeks of their life. Your veterinarian will want to see your puppy or kitten when they are around 6 to 8-weeks-old. (Waiting longer can put your pet at risk.) Adult pets should have at least one veterinary exam each year. If they have health problems, your veterinarian will see them more often. Senior pets are vulnerable to various diseases, so they’ll need two wellness exams each year.

What does a veterinary exam include?

This visit will be a chance for our team to thoroughly check your pet’s physical body and run some diagnostics to learn more about their health. If the veterinarian notices a potential problem, additional testing may be performed. We run the following tests during wellness exams:

●    Bloodwork
●    Urinalysis
●    Blood pressure check
●    Weight check
●    Dental exam

What will be discussed during the exam?

Pet owners must be present during the exam so our team can learn more about their pet’s behaviours, lifestyle, travel history, and diet. Our team will discuss issues like your pet’s immunization, parasite control/prevention plan, and nutrition. During the appointment, you can also point out any new developments you’ve noticed in your pet or ask the veterinarian about new foods or exercises you may want to introduce to your pet.
