Microchipping for Pets

The only permanent, reliable way to identify a lost pet.

Throughout your life, you’ve probably seen many missing posters for pets. Your loyal companion getting lost can be very stressful. To prevent this, many pet owners choose to microchip their pet. It provides identification for your pet, but unlike collars, they are permanent and will always be inside your pet. Although we hope your pet never gets lost, it’s better to be safe. To schedule a microchip appointment, give us a call at 289-278-6001.

What is a microchip?

A microchip is a small device inserted underneath your pet’s skin. The chip is a transponder that emits an ID number and code when scanned. Implanting the chip is fairly easy and can be done during dental cleanings or other procedures when your pet is under anesthesia.

How will I be contacted?

Once the chip is implanted, you must register your pet to the manufacturer’s database. Your contact details such as phone number, address, and some pet information are securely stored in the database. If your lost pet is found by someone who brings them to a vet or humane shelter, they will check for a microchip. Using a special scanner, they can retrieve the microchip’s ID number and contact the manufacturer for your contact details.

Is it safe for my pet?

Absolutely! The chip doesn’t cause any health problems or discomfort for your pet. It is made from a durable material compatible with your pet’s body.
